First things first... We just HAD to get our face painted! Hearts on both cheeks. It was that or a big black spider in the middle (and taking up her whole) face... I think the hearts were a good choice!
Then we had to stop and take in all of the grown-up rides.
Then it was off to the Cow Palace to see all of the cows. Ellie was lucky enough to not only pet the cow in the background but she also got a wet cow nose right in her face! Yuck... Cow kisses!
Ellie petting the baby cow. She also got to see him poop and that was VERY exciting!
In the Birthing Center we got to see chicks hatching... you can see that some of them are even still wet. We even saw one egg with a little chip on the top and every once in a while it would wiggle around. I am sure if we (Ellie) had the patience we may have been able to see one hatch and that would have been super-cool!
Here was a sow and her piglets, they were two days old. That explains why everyone is sleeping!
Here is the update board for all of the babies.
Outside there were some other animals to check out... Here are some goats.
And here is one of the llamas. He had a Schatzie under bite and seemed to be enjoying the breeze from the fan!
We also got to see a sheep before its haircut and one after. They sure felt different!
Here is one of the pigs that was outside. She just looked happy to be a pig!
These are the child-eating turkeys. You can't read the sign but it says to keep your hands away from the cage and within a matter of seconds of me telling Ellie to keep her hands away from it the white one stuck its head out and nipped her finger. Luckily there were no injuries but it scared the crap out of Ellie. It took about 10 minutes of tears and bah-bah/ cuddle time to be ready for dinner and ice cream.
Speaking of dinner Ellie and I shared a shaved lamb gyro and fresh french fries. She loved the lamb (it was pretty darn good) and must have eaten at least half of it off of the gyro.
From dinner we watched the cows getting milked.... So that is where milk comes from, hmm!
Here is a close up of the cow.
Yay! Our tickets for ice cream. Ellie had chocolate (of course) and I had black cherry... Both were fantastic!
Ellie enjoying her chocolate ice cream cone out side of the Milking Parlor.
On our way to the car Ellie was nice enough to strike a pose by the big Ferris Wheel with her face covered in ice cream, glitter, and face paint. What a fun afternoon at the fair! Ellie fell asleep in the car on the way home (all 15 min of the trip) with what was left of her ice cream cone in her lunch container on her lap. We had a big day and I have to admit that a bath waited until the next morning (don't worry Grandma, we did brush teeth before bed) and bed clothes were changed the next day but you know what... It was totally worth it!
