Well, this weekend sure was not planned this way but then again they say the best way to make God laugh is to tell him that you have a plan. Anyway, last Wednesday I was truly saddened to find out that a Chemistry professor of mine from High Point U had passed away from complications from pneumonia that he caught during his recovery from a stroke a few weeks earlier. More than just a professor, Dr. Charlie Warde was an adviser, a mentor, and the best teacher ever. He not only believed in me but he had a way to make me try harder to be better than I thought I could ever be. He held my hand in times of trouble and doubt and encouraged me with his words not only in academics but in life in general. He will truly be missed.
That being said, here is our weekend...Monday on the trip home Ellie finally crashed! Later, after she woke up, she swore to me that she wasn't sleeping. She claimed she was hiding her head in her blanket. She sure is full of baloney!!
Rosie and I hanging with George Washington on Sunday afternoon.
The display at the reception after Dr Warde's memorial service.
Rosie and I after Dr Warde's memorial service. She finally made it and was only in town for 14 hours but I am so glad to have been able to see her... It has been about 3 years since I had seen her last!
Kristle and I after the memorial service for Dr. Warde. This may be the last pregnant photo of Kristle. Here she is 3 days past her due date and that was on Sunday, Tuesday evening she had a healthy baby boy, Sawyer Levi. Congrats Kristle, Nathan, and Jennings!!
The girls on our self-guided tour of the HPU campus.
HPU's newest addition... The University Center Multiplex that has 2 resident halls, a complimentary arcade and movie theater, convenience store, book store, putting green in the courtyard, a bakery/ cafe, a non-alcoholic sports bar, a study, and a steak house (which is still under construction on the 4th floor). Amazing!
I can't believe it has been almost 10 years since have seen some of these women... It seems like just yesterday!
Some of the Phi Mu alumnae at the reunion luncheon on Saturday.
Ellie and I on a beautiful Saturday.
Ellie by one of the fountains on HPU Campus on Saturday morning.
Ellie and I in the Phi Mu lounge in Millis Hall on Saturday morning so Ellie could my 'Pink Girls Club'!!
Ellie doing her 'silly jump' in her socks and panties.
The only place she can jump on the bed... In the hotel. And boy, oh, boy she loves to jump on the bed!!
Saturday morning at Alex's House for breakfast. The child that said she wasn't hungry ate one order of bacon (4-5 slices) then asked for another order and started on that one and drank all of her chocolate milk! Someone likes Alex's!!
Some of the old gang on Friday night at the Greek Party.
Ellie and I at the High Point Hotel on Friday night.
Working diligently on her 'H's for homework.
Ellie bike riding after school.
