Saturday morning I woke up to, "It's Hallllooooowwweeeeeennnn, oooohhhhh! Spoooookyyyy Hallllooooowwwwweeeennn, ooooohhhhh!" What a way to wake up on Halloween!! I love it!!
Inserted story:
Sunday Ellie and I went to Target after church. While we were walking the girl's clothing section we had this interesting conversation...
E: "Mommy, smell my tuckus."
MB: "What?" Confused/ surprised/ perplexed look on my face
E: "Smell my tuckus."
MB: "No. Ellie, that isn't nice."
E: "Mommy, smell my tuckus, please?"
Well, at least she said please, right? And no, I didn't!
Now she has her very own science set... an evaporating dish, graduated cylinder, beaker, funnel, and Erlenmeyer flask. Last night we tried them all out in the bath tub... Science fun in the tub!! Yay!!
We managed to go around the entire neighborhood. About 1/3 of the way through I heard... "I gotta go potty!" along with the pee-pee dance (and when a fairy does it, it is adorable). Thank you Paul, our friendly and accommodating neighbor, for letting us use your bathroom! Then there was a trip and fall... no major injuries, just some wounded pride! But it did help her score some more loot from across the street. Then at about 2/3 of the way through our evening the skies finally opened up and the rain fell. Ellie got up on my shoulders and held the umbrella for the both of us and we made our way home with a few more stops along the way.
We never did see the Great Pumpkin but we had a great Halloween!!
Ha ha ha!!! Just kidding! Ellie wanted to help out so she went to town with the vacuum until she sucked up a Red Cross band bracelet by accident. She was so upset and surprised she just cried and cried for about 20 minutes! I finally got her calmed down and put the vacuum away. I thought that the drama was over... About 15 minutes after bed time I heard her calling from the bedroom. When I went to check on her she told me just how very, very, very sorry she was about vacuuming the bracelet. Apparently there was no assurances I could give her that it was ok and no one was upset with her, it was just an accident because this went on about every 15 minutes for about an hour and a half. Finally Papoo just cut the vacuum bag open, retrieved, and washed the bracelet and Ellie fell asleep 2 hours after bedtime. I guess it even happens to little ones... before bed when you are trying to sleep, that is when your mind wanders.
